Zacharia Sets a Record

YOU’RE FIRED: President Trump fired his new press secretary Katie Zacharia after only five days on the job and one press briefing, calling to question not only her qualifications for the job but his own.

Trump hired the blonde, beautiful Zacaria after seeing her on television without consulting his chief of staff or … evidently … anyone else. Zacharia beat the record of Trump’s first term director of communications Anthony Scaramucci, who was out after a whole 11 days.

Zacharia came to the press office as an eager Trumpy just pleased as punch to be working for the President with no aptitude for the job. She opened her first presser with a speech about Trump’s glory obviously fed to her by Trump himself, and buried the news that Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle had been fired.

Zacharia was pilloried in the press after her first appearance and then on Thursday night she was grilled on Fox News by Trump cheerleader Sean Hannity. The big embarrassment was that over the years Zacharia in television appearances had presented herself as a lawyer although she never passed the bar.

Trump told reporters that he had encouraged Zacharia to “reconsider” the job. “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider,” he said, recounting his conversation with his press secretary. He added: “Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this.” In other words, “You’re fired.”

Zacharia posted on Titter/X, “I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to.”

BUDDY MOVIE: President Trump last night signed an executive order exempting Russia from a new sanctions measure that Congress passed last month, offering another economic lifeline to Russian President Vladimir Putin as the United States turns to Russia for help in lowering gas prices and turns its back on the struggling Ukraine.

The law is intended to choke Russia’s financial lifelines sustaining its war against Ukraine, but Trump has the power to void it if he wishes.

Trump made a deal for 4.8 million metric tons of Russian diesel in order to lower prices in the US before the midterm elections.  Three hundred metric tons is about a one-day supply for the US.

THE SHOOTING GALLERY: The shooter at the Bend Oregon elementary school who killed for people has been identified as 16-year-old Griffin J. John II, a former special education student at Silver Rail Elementary. He lived with his mother a half mile from school and used a shotgun she owed.

John at first fired at a man in a red pickup truck who saw him climbing over a school fence with his gun. He then shot his way through glass panes in a side door and went inside where he killed three children ages 6, 8, and 11 as well as a 25-year-old teacher.

Another teacher threw her cellphone at him and wrestled him to the floor. Kaylub Giamanco, a father of two girls at the school, had seen the initial gunfire while driving by. He went into the school carrying a .40-caliber handgun, joined the struggle, and shot John several times, killing him.

IT’S POLITICAL: President Trump appears to be in a panic that Texas Democrat James Talrico will beat the President’s Republican pick for the Senate, state Attorney General Ken Paxton. Trump is blaming Republican incumbent John Cornyn … who Trump stabbed in the back … and Republican operative Karl Rove.

The President posted that, “If Ken Paxton loses, it will be because of WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Political Hacks like John Cornyn and Karl Rove, who have ineffectively opposed me for my entire political career,” and that, “your favorite President (ME!) is asking all of those who supported Senator John Cornyn to UNITE, and immediately switch your support to Ken Paxton.”

But it appears by the polls that even diehard Texas Republicans are reluctant to elect the odious Paxton, who has left a path of scandal in his political life. If Cornyn was still in the race, it wouldn’t be a contest.

The NY Times reports that Paxton has remained financially competitive in the race largely through the graces of Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, who has given $158 million that ended up in the Paxton campaign. Musk’s business interests with the federal government have been well fed by the Republicans and President Trump.

THE SPIN RACK: A new wildfire in the San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano areas of Sothern California has burned several homes and is growing in size. — Rap mogul Sean “Puffy” Combs, who’s serving four years for prostitution-related convictions, has been transferred from a New Jersey federal prison to one in Pennsylvania. Combs had been in trouble for having a telephone and getting other prisoners to do chores and cook meals for him. — A new Mexico judge tossed the charges against actor Timothey Busfield who had been accused of inappropriately touching twin boys on the set of “The Cleaning Lady.” State District Judge Joseph Montano cited prosecutorial misconduct and errors that undermined the grand jury proceedings while dismissing the indictment against the actor who first made his name in the series “Thirtysomething.”  — Pope Leo was to be released from the hospital today following surgery for lung cancer.

BELOW THE FOLD: OK, we’re just leaving it as is this morning. Enough already.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
