Trump Appeals to Restrict Mail Ballots

Vol. 15, No. 2370
MAIL CALL: The Trump administration on Sunday filed another emergency appeal to the Supreme Court asking that the Postal Service be allowed to implement new restrictions on voting by mail in time for November’s mid-term elections. The government argues without proof that voting by mail is rife with fraud.
The administration is appealing a federal court order last week blocking the new ballot rules.
President Trump’s executive order charges the US Postal Service with determining who is eligible to vote by mail and orders it to refuse to deliver ballots sent by anyone not included on newly created federal mail voter lists. The order threatens criminal prosecution for election officials, mail carriers, and anyone else who sends ballots to or delivers them from people the administration deems ineligible.
Solicitor General D. John Sauer urged the justices to move swiftly to allow the Postal Service to proceed, claiming that the new rule “does not seize control of states’ power to run elections.”
Sauer has argued that the mail ballot rules are no ore harmful than the rules regarding “preparation requirements for the mailing of cremated remains and replica explosives.”
TRADE WAR: Canada overnight levied its retaliatory trade tariffs on $20 billion worth of American goods in response to tariffs placed on Canadian goods by President Trump.
The President in an online outburst yesterday said he would ban everything from the Canadian company Bombardier, which makes a variety of things from business jets to snowmobiles and personal watercraft.
In an online rant Trump said, “NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!” He said, If they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a “piggybank.” BUY AMERICAN. FLY ON AMERICAN AIRLINERS. ENJOY AMERICAN LIQUOR AND BEVERAGES. SAIL ON LAKE AMERICA. AMERICA FIRST!”
THE WAR ROOM: US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff came away from talks with Russia and Ukraine without a peace agreement, only another agreement to talk about talking about peace.
There’s also no evident progress in ending the US war with Iran. Nonetheless President Trump posted, “Oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran. Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon. It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA!”
INFINITE SCROLL:
— Trump had a busy weekend posting phantasmagorical things on his social media, including heroic images of himself and some things, like his graphic memes, that are just made up.
Trump posted on Truth Social that former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, whose testimony helped convict the President of financial chicanery, has recanted even though Cohen has not.
What Cohen said was that he “felt pressured and coerced” by prosecutors to testify but he did not recant or deny the truth of anything he said.
Nonetheless, Trump posted that, “Now we are asking that any remnant of those Politically Weaponized Cases against me be immediately terminated and dismissed. Their Star Witness said everything they did was WRONG and UNLAWFUL!”
The President claimed that since he ordered the name of Lake Ontario to be changed to Lake America, “business on the United States side of the Lake has been absolutely BOOMING!”
Then he trolled the entire state of New Mexico with seven memes suggesting he would change the name to “New America.”
Trump also posted that, “The Mar-a-Lago Club is considered, by everyone, to be the Best in the World.”
Yes, he said “everyone.”
NANNY STATE: A married mother of five young children in Williamsburg, Virginia was convicted last week of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allowing her five-year-old son to walk unaccompanied to a nearby pond to collect goose feathers.
Karyann Parkinson and her husband have said that they encourage independence in their children at an early age and that her son, Sam, knew how to safely cross streets, get to the pond, and come home. “I know what he’s capable of,” Parkinson said.
Sam was picked up by a homeowner’s association security officer who reported the matter to the police, and Parkinson was prosecuted.
She declined a plea deal and was given a six-month suspended jail sentence. Parkinson and her son Sam’s names will be on the Virginia Abuse and Neglect Registry for seven years.
RUDY, OH RUDY: Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a national hero following the 9/11 attacks, said current Mayor Zohran Mamdani should not attend the 25th anniversary commemoration. “It offends me,” Giuliani said in an anti-Muslim diatribe on the far-right news outlet Newsmax.
Giuliani, a major subscriber to the lie that the 2020 election was rigged, also claimed that Mamdani is a supporter of a Muslim plot aimed at “taking over certain parts of America and certain parts of Europe.”
THE SPIN RACK: A cargo jet contracted by Amazon overshot the runway Sunday in Miami, killing five people on the ground, critically injuring three more, and catching fire. The plane skidded across a four-lane road. — The US military over the weekend struck three Iranian oil tankers after claiming Navy ships had been targeted by missiles. — The military also sank a small ship in the eastern Pacific that they claim was a refueling station for narco boats.
BELOW THE FOLD: Donald Trump posted his now-standard holiday poison-pen message: “Happy Labor Day to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, and Dumocrats who will do anything possible to destroy our Country. These Deranged People, after fighting for 10 years, should finally acknowledge that your Favorite President (ME!), knows how to WIN! They should be exhausted by now but, sadly, they’re not. They’re going to give it one last shot at ruining America, but we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to win the Midterms, BIG, and SAVE AMERICA!”
We hope that helped everyone have a good day.
