Off. Wilson Resigns, Detained in Qatar

Ferguson: Police Officer Darren Wilson, who was cleared Monday by a grand jury in the shooting of an unarmed black teenager, has resigned from the Ferguson, Mo. police department.

A letter from Wilson released by his lawyer said, in part, “I have been told that my continued employment may put the residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk, which is a circumstance that I cannot allow.” The 28-year-old Wilson was a three-year veteran of the department and his resignation was expected.

Protests continued in Ferguson last night, with some demonstrators saying they still want criminal charges against Wilson.

Yesterday a group of protesters left Ferguson for a weeklong March to the state capital in Jefferson City.

It's Been Said

"In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate, and I should have, no excuses."
