Kirk Installed as Martyr for the Right

MARTYRDOM: Assassinated right wing activist Charlie Kirk was enshrined in martyrdom yesterday at a 5-hour memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona attended by an estimated 73,000 people.

President Donald Trump addressed the crowd saying, “On that terrible day September 10th, 2025, our greatest evangelist for American liberty became immortal. He’s a martyr now for American freedom.”

Abandoning any call for political reconciliation, Trump said, “I hate my opponent and I don’t want the best for them.”

Christian religiosity infused the entire event. Kirk’s widow Erika said, of Kirk’s organization Turning Point USA that the world “needs a group that will point young people away from the path of misery and sin.”

White House aide Stephen Miller set the tone for hatred, vitriol, retribution, and even white supremacy without mentioning race. “Our lineage hails back to Athens to Rome, to Philadelphia, to Monticello,” he said. “Our ancestors built the cities.” He did not acknowledge that Thomas Jefferson had children with slave women at Monticello or that slaves built the White House.

Speaking of Kirk’s murder Miller said,  “They cannot imagine what they have awakened,” even though there’s no “they” in Kirk’s murder, only a lone gunman.

SHORT-ORDER JUSTICE: President Trump on Saturday demanded that   Attorney General Pam Bondi must move quickly to prosecute figures he considers to be his enemies.

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” Trump wrote in a social media post addressed to “Pam,” meaning Bondi. “They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”

Trump named  former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, Democrat of California; and Letitia James, the New York attorney general, saying he was reading about how they were “all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.”

Asked later by reporters about his message for Bondi, Trump said, “They have to act. They have to act fast.”

In other messages Trump said he had withdrawn the nomination of  Erik Siebert as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia because “I was informed that he received the UNUSUALLY STRONG support of the two absolutely terrible, sleazebag Democrat Senators.”

BAD THINGS: The President is demanding that Afghanistan give back the Bagram Air Base abandoned when the US left the country. “We want that base back, but one of the reasons we want the base is, as you know, it’s an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons,” Trump said.

After Afghanistan snubbed Trump’s demand, he posted, “If Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!”

THE REGIME:

—  The Trump administration shut down an investigation into border czar Tom Homan in which he was recorded accepting a bag full of $50,000 cash in an undercover FBI investigation. According to the Times report, in an incident before he went to work before the Trump administration, Homan told FBI agents posing as businessmen that in exchange for the money he would help them secure government contracts related to border security.

The Times says that according to people they spoke to, “Justice Department officials shut down the case because of doubts about whether prosecutors could prove to a jury that Mr. Homan had agreed to do any specific acts in exchange for the money, and because he had not held an official government position at the time of the meeting with undercover agents, the people added.”

Homan now holds an important government position.

— The Trump administration went to the Supreme Court on Friday to ask for approval to remove residency protections from more than 300,000 Venezuelan immigrants who had been allowed to remain in the United States without risk of deportation under a program known as Temporary Protected Status.

A trial level court in San Francisco had blocked the effort to remove protections.

Trump said on his Truth Social feed: “We want Venezuela to immediately accept all of the prisoners, and people from mental institutions, which includes the Worst in the World Insane Asylums, that Venezuelan ‘Leadership’ has forced into the United States of America. Thousands of people have been badly hurt, and even killed, by these ‘Monsters.’ GET THEM THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY, RIGHT NOW, OR THE PRICE YOU PAY WILL BE INCALCULABLE!”

— Two months after Congress cut money for  food stamps, the Trump administration canceled the government’s annual report measuring household food insecurity … the number of people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. In effect, the Agriculture Department is stripping the government of ability to measure Americans’ ability to get enough food.

The most recent report found that in 2023, 47 million people, were food insecure.

— Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that reporters credentialed to cover the Pentagon will be required to sign a pledge that they will not report any information, including about unclassified reports, that has not been authorized for release. The announcement said the Pentagon remains “committed to transparency, but anyone who violates the rule will have their credentials yanked.

— California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law on Saturday that would prevent federal immigration agents and local law enforcement from wearing masks in the state. The law would go into effect in January but you can expect a legal challenge.

—THE SPIN RACK: On the eve of  the UN General Assembly in New York, Britain, Canada and Australia confirmed that they now formally recognize Palestinian statehood, putting them at odds with Israel and the Trump administration. France and Portugal have also pledged to vote for recognition of Palestinian statehood this week.

BELOW THE FOLD:  The outdoor apparel brand Arc’teryx apologized for setting off a colorful and artistic “Rising Dragon” fireworks display Friday on a Tibetan plateau. Critics has immediately denounced the advertising stunt as damaging to a remote and pristine ecosystem.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
