Hegseth: Live-Stream Firing Squad

DEAD STREAM: The Pentagon and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth plan a public and live-streamed execution by firing squad on December 3rd for the Ft. Hood mass shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

The military has not carried out an execution since 1961 and not by firing squad since World War II. The US has not had a public execution in 90 years. It’s a practice still done in countries like Iran, North Korea, and Afghanistan.

Hegseth said the method and details of the execution would be symbolic. He said that the decision to shoot Major Hasan by a firing squad, as well as other details of the execution, were made for their symbolism.

“Of course we’re going to do it at Fort Hood,” Hegseth said. “And do it on a Thursday and we’re going to do it at 1 o’clock — which is when he did it — and it’s going to be soldiers with rifles executing the firing squad. It hadn’t been since World War II since we’ve done that.”

He added, “Well I kind of like the mentality we had in World War II.”

Back in 2009 Hasan went on a shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, killing 13 people and wounding 32. Hegseth said the execution would be public and live-streamed “because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.”

THE WAR ROOM: The US military is running up plans for renewed  combat operations against Iran, The NY Times reports, even while President Trump appears indecisive about whether he will pull the trigger. The military is always drawing up contingency plans, but they need to be ready if Trump decides to make good on his so-far empty threats.

The war has been a drag on Trump’s popularity. Yesterday he said on social media that he would not attack Iran before the midterm elections, and that the two countries were “having productive discussions.”

Three aircraft carriers and their supporting fleets will soon be within striking distance of Iran, a massive assembly of force. The Pentagon, on Trump’s orders, has developed plans to strike Iran’s drone and missile arsenal, other military sites, and even energy facilities.

THE OTHER WAR: At least 30 people were killed and 18 injured after a Russian glide bomb tore apart a bus stop in the eastern city of Kramatorsk yesterday as the Russians ratchet up pressure to break Ukraine’s “fortress belt” and take all of the eastern Donbas region.

Russia is stepping up attacks on civilian targets and public transportation, including bridges and trains. But military analysts say a Russian breakthrough is unlikely before the end of the year.

BET ON IT: The National Football League asked the Supreme Court to recognize gambling when they see it. The NFL had fought legalization of the “prediction markets” and now want the Supreme Court to rule that the markets must be subject to state gambling regulations.

Sports-related prediction contracts, like how many touchdowns the Chiefs will score, are actually gambling,  not the financial “swaps” that that the companies claim. The NFL said in a statement, “Prediction markets are overwhelmingly used for consumer sports gambling.”

INFINITE SCROLL:

— The Wall Street Journal reports that Kimbery Guilfoyle, the ambassador to Greece and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., solicited a major Trump supporter for $100,000 to pay off her credit card debt before she was run through congressional approval.

Guilfoyle told Eric Deters, who was seeking help from the new Trump administration on some personal tax and legal issues, that the payment needed to leave no paper trail. “It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote on Signal, according to messages cited by The Wall Street Journal. “Please.”

On July 3, 2025, just nine days before her confirmation hearing, she texted, “Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” along with a prayer hands emoji and a PDF with bill payment instructions for American Express. “You could just send it here,” she wrote.

Deters is a 63-year-old lawyer  and former co-owner of Snappy Tomato Pizza, a southern regional chain. He eventually backed off, saying the payment could interfere with his marriage.

— President Trump announced on his social media that: “The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back. You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government.”

— Trump is trying to enforce his executive order re-naming “Artificial Intelligence as “Super Intelligence.” He posted that, “The White House considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!”

THE SPIN RACK: South African lawyer and human rights advocate Navanethem ‘Navi’ Pillay was named the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. — ICE agents in New York yesterday shot and wounded a man while he had his 5-year-old son in the back seat of his car. The New York police said that at least one ICE agent fired seven rounds at the car. — Patricia Krenwinkel, a member of the infamous Charles Manson cult convicted of seven 1969 murders, was granted parole this week and, unless barred by the full state parole board and governor, will be freed after 56 years in prison. It is the third time the 78-year-old Krenwinkel has put up for parole and both previous times it was blocked by the governor.  — The prison release date for music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ has been moved back from January 21st, 2028, to March 2, because of accusations by fellow inmates that he received special meals, massages, and access to prohibited devices.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
