EgyptAir Jet Down, Georgie Sells His Gun

Missing: An EgyptAir Airbus A320 bound from Paris to Cairo went missing overnight shortly after crossing into Egyptian air space. The jet had 66 passengers and crew on board.

There is no immediate explanation for the crash and no wreckage has been found. Greek air controllers say calls to the plane went unanswered just before it crossed into Egyptian air control. They say it made sudden swerving moves before it went down.

American Values: Gun-toting George Zimmerman has an offer of $138,900 for the 9mm handgun he used to kill unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The buyer of the gun on UnitedGunGroup.com has not been revealed, and Zimmerman is still verifying that the bid is legitimate.

Zimmerman put his cheap nine up for sale as a “collector’s item.” He wrote on his website, “I would like to thank and give the glory to God for a successful auction that has raised funds for several worthy causes,” as if God might praise the killing a 17-year-old returning from the candy store.

Nation: The Senate has approved Eric Fanning to be Secretary of the Army, and the first openly gay man to hold the top job in any of the military services … Chicago has agreed to pay $3.2 million for the wrongful deaths of a black man and an Hispanic man shot by police officers … The House has approved $622 million to fight the Zika virus in the US.

Summer Vacation: If you are flying anywhere this summer, better get to the airport right now. The under staffed TSA has been swamped by travellers and it’s not even Memorial Day. In Chicago, passengers have been advised to arrive three hours before their flight. It’s only 3 ½ hours to Los Angeles.

The agency thought it could scrimp on staff because people would enroll in TSA PreCheck, but so far it’s millions of people behind predictions.

The TSA says it’s going to hire 800 more officers nationwide this month, which doesn’t seem like much. The TSA union says the force needs an additional 6,000 people telling you to remove your belt and take off your shoes.

Trump is savaging Bill to damage Hillary.

Don and the Supremes: Donald Trump revealed his potential Supreme Court picks indicating the conservative direction in which he’d take the court. Tension Headaches: Two Chinese fighter jets buzzed within 50 feet of a US reconnaissance plane flying in international waters over the South China Sea, according to the Pentagon. The US pilot is reported to have been forced to drop several hundred feet in altitude to avoid a collision. International tensions have increased in the South China Sea as the Chinese have increased their territorial control by building artificial islands topped with aircraft landing strips.

Pay or Tell: Actress Robin Wright, who plays the scheming wife of the “House of Cards” scheming President Frank Underwood on Netflix, pulled a power move of her own to get equal pay. While one of the Underwoods might have just had someone killed, Wright threatened to go public with the information that while she is equally popular she was paid less than co-star Kevin Spacey.

According to the Huffington Post, Wright told an audience at a Rockefeller Foundation event in New York Tuesday, “I was like, ‘You better pay me or I’m going to go public.’ And they did.”

It's Been Said

"In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate, and I should have, no excuses."

-Andrew Cuomo, resigning as governor of New York after accusations of sexual harassment
