Arms for Rebels: At a meeting of the European Union today, Britain is pressing to arm and equip Syrian rebels to fight the regime of Bashar al-Assad. British Foreign Secretary William Hague said to reporters, “How long can we go on with people having every weapon that’s ever been devised dropped on them, while most of the world denies them the means to defend themselves?” Some EU countries fear that weapons would fall into the hands of Muslim extremists and feed general conflict in the Middle East.
National: Investigators say a 17-year-old high school student in Albany, Ore. had detailed plans for an assault on his school. A search of the teenager’s home revealed pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails and firebombs under the floorboards in his bedroom.

The Toronto Star reported that some men who claimed to have sold the cocaine to Ford took video of him using it. Two reporters and an editor say they have seen the video that was offered to them for $100,000.
