Sex and Scandal, Smoothie Man

From Chicago — It’s mostly about sex and scandal today.
Now This: Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer report in The New Yorker that a second woman has told Senate Democrats that she was the subject of  sexual misconduct by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh while the two were students at Yale University. One accusation presents a question. Two is the beginning of a pattern. This is how it went for Democratic Sen. Al Franken, who ended up resigning.
They write that Deborah Ramirez, 53, admits she was drunk and her recollections are hazy but  “remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”
Kavanaugh said in a statement, “This is a smear, plain and simple.” A White House statement said, “This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man.”
The first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has reached an agreement to testify  Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, setting up what might be a monumental confrontation over Kavanaugh’s nomination.
Smoothie Operator: Jason Miller, an inveterate defender of Donald Trump who has appeared frequently on CNN discussion panels, has removed himself from the network amid accusations that he slipped an abortion pill to a pregnant girlfriend.
“To be clear, none of this is in any way true,”Miller wrote on Twitter. “That doesnt matter however in the current court of public opinion, where fraudulent statements and a lack of factual support rule the day as long as it fits into a tweet.”
The accusations are fallout from a child custody battle between Miller and AJ Delgado, who both worked for the 2016 Trump campaign and had an extramarital romance that resulted in a son. The allegations against Miller were reported Friday by the website Splinters that revealed custody documents filed by Delgado.
Delgado claims that Miller impregnated a woman he met at an Orlando strip club in 2012. The court documents say Miller went to the woman’s apartment and gave her a smoothie spiked with an abortion pill. She lost the baby and ended up in the hospital close to death.
Delgado does not have a sterling reputation either.  She got pregnant by a previous boyfriend who ended up getting a restraining order to keep her away from him.
Hello Friend: Hearings were scheduled to start this morning before the sentencing of comedian Bill Cosby, who’s been convicted of sexual assault. Several women are expected to testify that Cosby attacked them. Cosby could get up to 10 years in prison, but it’s more likely to be about three years.
Back on Top: Tiger Woods yesterday won his first golf tournament in five years, beating the runner-up in Atlanta by two strokes. After the meltdown of his personal life, chronic back trouble, and a drug arrest, Woods was on the verge of tears as he completed his 80thtournament win. I just can’t believe I pulled this off”he said.
Yowza: The makers of Scrabble have added 300 words to its list of playable words. They include sriracha, beatdown, zomboid, twerk, sheeple, wayback, bibimbap, botnet, emoji, facepalm, frowny, hivemind, puggle and yowza.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
