In Cosby’s Own Words, Trump Says “No Hero”

In His Own Words: The NY Times has obtained transcripts from a sexual assault lawsuit against Bill Cosby dating back to 2005 and 2006 in which the fatherly comedian admitted to being a prolific philanderer who used drugs, flattery, sympathy, and money to get women to have sex with him. He admitted paying women to keep quiet and hiding his affairs from his wife, Camille, whom he married in 1964.

It’s a stark contrast to his refusal to answer or even “dignify” accusations from at least 25 women that he drugged and raped them.

In one exchange with the plaintiff’s lawyer Cosby recalled asking a young woman about her father who had died of cancer.

Q. Do you remember talking about that?

A. Yes.

Q. Do you remember what else you talked about?

A. That’s enough.

Q. Did you ask her those questions because you wanted to have sexual contact with her?

A. Yes.

Cosby said that he had obtained prescriptions for the muscle relaxant Quaaludes but never took them himself.

Q. Why didn’t you ever take the Quaaludes?

A. Because I used them.

Q. For what?

A. The same as a person would say have a drink.

Truth Be Told: Self-proclaimed truth teller Donald Trump stepped on it yesterday in Iowa when he attacked the war record of Sen. John McCain saying, “He’s not a war hero. He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” He got some boos from the audience and immediate condemnation by other Republican candidates.

Trump and McCain have been trading barbs recently with McCain saying Trump has riled up the “crazies” about Mexican immigrants and Trump calling McCain a “dummy.”

But yesterday at a conference of religious conservatives Trump attacked McCain’s war record in response to a question by moderator Frank Luntz, who referred to McCain as a war hero. McCain was a Navy pilot who was shot down over Vietnam and spent five years as a POW.

Trump says he got a draft deferment for a bone spur on one of his feet, but he can’t remember which foot.

Nation: A group of black civil rights marchers and white supremacists clashed briefly yesterday at the South Carolina state capitol in Columbia. At least five people were arrested.

A Florida group called Black Educators for Justice had gathered on the north side of the building when 50 white supremacists arrived at the south steps carrying the Confederate battle flag and one Nazi flag. The two sides traded plenty of obscenities, but police kept them separated.

The Beautiful Game: Former FIFA executive Jeffrey Webb, a native of the Cayman Islands who was the first indicted FIFA official extradited to the US, pleaded not guilty in federal court. It’s an indication that he’s not going to cooperate with the investigation and turn witness against other officials. He is accused in just one instance of taking a half-million dollar bribe that he used to build a swimming pool at his Georgia home. Webb, who will be under house arrest, was released on $10 million bail, backed by his 10 real estate properties, and three cars, as well as expensive watches and jewelry.

Viral Video: Chinese authorities have arrested five people after the Internet posting of a young couple having sex in the dressing room of a popular Beijing clothing store. The couple in the video were among those arrested. Investigators are trying to determine who shot the video and whether it was an intentional publicity stunt for the Uniqlo clothing store. China’s Internet regulator, the Cyberspace Administration of China, said that distributing the footage was “against socialist core values” even though the man and woman in the video were obviously socializing.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
