Hillary Never Asked, Trump Worries World

You’ve Got Mail: A State Department investigation found that Hillary Clinton broke the rules when she used a private e-mail server while she was Secretary of State and Donald Trump couldn’t be happier. “She’s as crooked as they come,” Trump told a rally in California.

Clinton’s single biggest political liability is that high numbers of voters don’t trust her, and the State Department report is sure to feed the negatives.

Despite her claims that her use of a private server was approved by the State Department, and that she cooperated with the internal investigation, Clinton never sought approval, according to the report, and declined to be interviewed.

Clinton claims she had done only what previous Secretaries had done, but the rules changed before she took office. The report says that, back when she was still Secretary of State, several Clinton staffers raised questions about the private email and were slapped down. They were told, “never to speak of the secretary’s personal email system again.”

Knock First: Eleven states have sued the federal government to block President Obama’s guidance that public school bathrooms must be open to children whose sexual identity corresponds to the bathroom they want to use. While Obama’s order does not have the force of law, federal education money can be withheld from school systems that refuse to comply.

The states claim in their suit that the Obama Administration “conspired to turn workplaces and educational settings across the country into laboratories for a massive social experiment, flouting the democratic process and running roughshod over common sense policies protecting children and basic privacy rights.”

Foreign Relations: During a visit to improve relations with Japan, President Obama stood stone faced at a press conference today as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe lectured him and expressed outrage over the rape and murder of a 20-year-old Japanese woman on the island of Okinawa, allegedly by a US military contractor. Abe said, “I feel profound resentment against this self-centered and absolutely despicable crime.”

Obama expressed his regrets and pledged US support for the Japanese prosecution. The Japanese take these things very seriously, in part because they resent the continued presence of US military forces. More than 20 years ago, three US servicemen kidnapped and raped a 12-year-old girl and the Japanese are still talking about it.

**The Trump Report**

World Worries: Speaking in Japan today, President Obama said world leaders are worried about the rise of Donald Trump. “They are paying very close attention to this election. I think it is fair to say that they are surprised by this Republican nominee. They are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements. But they’re rattled by them, and for good reason.”

Indian Wars: Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has become the attack dog biting Donald Trump’s ankles as she fights for Hillary Clinton. Speaking of Trump’s statement years ago that he looked upon the housing and financial crash as an opportunity to make money, Warren described Trump as “A small, insecure, money-grubber who doesn’t care who gets hurt, so long as he makes a profit off it.”

Trump fired back, calling Warren “Pocahontas” because of her claim that she is part American Indian. He told an audience, “Elizabeth Warren, she is going out — she is probably the senator that is doing just about the least in the United States senate. She is a total failure.”

Mating Season: Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan chatted on the phone last night. We don’t know what they said to each other, but Ryan yesterday denied reports that he’s close to endorsing Trump for president. “I don’t know where all this came from. I haven’t made a decision,” Ryan told reporters.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
