But many Americans are not getting ahead. Organizers say fast food workers in 100 cities will walk out today demanding higher wages.
911: Recordings of the 911 tapes from last year’s Newtown school massacre reveal staffers calling for help. One woman can be heard saying, “I caught a glimpse of somebody. They’re running down the hallway. Oh, they’re still running and still shooting.” The released recordings are only from the Newtown police department. News organizations have filed requests for calls to the Connecticut State Police.
World: A Hezbollah leader was assassinated in front of his home outside Beirut, Lebanon, in what may be revenge for his organization’s involvement in the Syrian civil war. Off Air: MSNBC host Martin Bashir resigned yesterday amidst controversy over nasty remarks he made about Sarah Palin. In a commentary Bashir said someone should defecate in Palin’s mouth, although that’s not the word he used. Bashir had been upset by Palin’s comparison of US debt to Chine to “slavery”. Despite apologizing, Bashir couldn’t escape weeks of blowback. His resignation used the passive voice of the guilty saying, “I deeply regret what was said.”
Google Arrest: A California woman is believed to be the first cited for driving while wearing the Google Glass. Cecilia Abadie was stopped for speeding and when the officer saw her headpiece he also wrote her up under the section for watching television while driving. Abadie is one of 10,000 “explorers” given the Google Glass before it goes on the market. The Google Glass has a small transparent lens over the right eye that takes video and displays information. It evidently did not tell her she was doing 80 in a 65 zone.
