Mad Bomber: Another explosion injured two men on bicycles last night in Austin, Texas. The injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening. Investigators were looking into whether the incident is related to three previous package bombs in the city earlier this month that killed two people and injured a third.

The bomb left on a roadside may have been triggered by a tripwire, the police said.

“Given the darkness, we have not really had the opportunity to really look at this blast site to determine what has happened,” interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley told reporters. “It’s obvious there’s been an explosion; it’s obvious it caused significant injures to two people, and it is important right now for anyone in the neighborhood behind us to remain inside and give us time to work through this.”

Manley said the bomber appears to be trying to send a message to the city. “We are not going to understand that (message) until the suspect or suspects reach out to us to talk to us about what that message was,” he said.

Fore Play: President Trump spent four hours playing golf at his Virginia club yesterday, but his mind was not entirely on his game. Trump tweeted about the Russia investigation, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and even the fired FBI Director James Comey, setting off speculation that he’s thinking about firing Mueller in an effort to end the investigation.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said on CNN, “As I said before, if he tried to do that, that would be the beginning of the end of his presidency.”

Trump asked on Twitter, “Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans? Another Dem recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!”

So much to take on there, but for one thing, Mueller is a well-established Republican.

In response to the news that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote contemporaneous memos about his contacts with Trump, the President wrote, “Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me. I don’t believe he made memos except to help his own agenda, probably at a later date. Same with lying James Comey. Can we call them Fake Memos?”

No one said McCabe took notes while speaking to Trump. He wrote memos later, something FBI agents are trained to do.

As for Comey, “Wow, watch Comey lie under oath to Senator G when asked “have you ever been an anonymous source…or known someone else to be an anonymous source…?” He said strongly “never, no.” He lied as shown clearly on @foxandfriends.” Trump actually believes what he sees on Fox News.

It’s impossible to know whether Trump will fire Mueller unless or until he pulls the trigger. A warning shot might be the firing of Chief of Staff John Kelly or Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions.

The Russia House: CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted, “Polls have closed in Russia and the suspense is just killing me.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin won re-election yesterday to a fourth term in office with 70 percent of the vote. Aleksei Navalny, the only serious challenger, was barred from running.

Putin has run the country since 2000 and under current term limits, this should be his last. Don’t put your money on it.

Turnout was high, considering the outcome was not in doubt. Putin has provided both a stability and a nationalism that Russian like. He’s rebuilding the old empire and they love that. Putin delivered his victory speech at a celebration of the fourth anniversary of annexing Crimea.

Entertainment: Cirque du Soleil aerialist Yann Arnaud slipped off the double rings and died during a show in Tampa over the weekend. The 38-year-old Arnaud was a popular performer who had been with the company for 15 years. He fell about 20 feet to his death.

Hoop Dreams: The defending champions, No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels, fell to seventh-seeded Texas A&M , 86-65, in a major upset for the second round of the NCAA tournament yesterday. The tone for the game was set when the 6-10 Texas forward Brandon Robinson slam-blocked a certain North Carolina basket. Texas was in the game.

In a weekend of upsets, University of Maryland Baltimore Country (UMBC), an unknown, on Friday knocked off No. 1 seed Virginia. UMBC is known as “The Retrievers” after the Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Sadly, The Retrievers ended up in the doghouse yesterday, losing to No. 9 Kansas State, 50-43.

Because It’s There: A major effort is underway to remove as much as 100 tons of rubbish from the campsites on Mt. Everest. It’s being taken away by helicopter from the lower reaches of the mountain.

Every year the professional climbers and tourists who go to Everest leave mounds of garbage, even though they are supposed to take it down the mountain with them. Most of the trash is empty beer bottles and cans, food tins, and junked equipment. There are piles of empty oxygen bottles up there. But those mountain adventurers love nature.
