A Second Whistle, Deep State, Deep Psych

Whistling in Washington: A second whistleblower with first-hand knowledge of President Trump’s phone call with the Ukraine president is represented by the same legal team working with the first whistleblower, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos reported yesterday.
The second whistleblower is said to have consulted with the inspector general for intelligence, but hasn’t been in touch with any to any of the congressional committees digging into the President.
Trump was immediately crying conspiracy on Twitter, dismissing the veracity of information. “The first so-called second hand information ‘Whistleblower’ got my phone conversation almost completely wrong, so now word is they are going to the bench and another ‘Whistleblower’ is coming in from the Deep State, also with second hand info.”
The first whistleblower was not wrong. His complaint was verified by the memo of conversation released by the President himself.
Also over the weekend Trump repeated his claim that you can’t believe anything reported by the press. “The Media is ‘Fixed’ and ‘Corrupt.’ It bears no relationship to the truth. The @nytimes & @washingtonpost are pure fiction. Totally dishonest reporting!”
Crack in the Wall: President Trump is in a public spat with Mitt Romney after the Utah senator openly criticized his behavior in calling for foreign governments to investigate Vice President Joe Biden.
Trump tweeted that Romney is a “pompous ass” and that “I’m hearing that the Great People of Utah are considering their vote for their Pompous Senator, Mitt Romney, to be a big mistake. I agree! He is a fool who is playing right into the hands of the Do Nothing Democrats! #IMPEACHMITTROMNEY”
He’s hearing that in his own mind and by the way senators cannot be impeached. Romney was elected with 62 percent of the vote in Utah.
What Romney had said was, “By all appearances, the President’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.”
Trump responded, “Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous ‘ass’ who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run.”
Deeeefense: Trump is pressing his counter attack, claiming that the real story is corruption involving Joe Biden and his son. “The Biden family was PAID OFF, pure and simple! The fake news must stop making excuses for something that is totally inexcusable.” He said, “I have an OBLIGATION to look into possible, or probable, CORRUPTION!”
Psych Report: It’s amazing that George and Kellyanne Conway are still married. Kellyanne is one of President Trump’s closest advisers and defenders. Her husband George is one of the President’s most vocal critics.
In an article in The Atlantic titled “Unfit for Office,” George Conway says, “You don’t need to be a mental-health professional to see that something’s very seriously off with Trump—particularly after nearly three years of watching his erratic and abnormal behavior in the White House.”
Conway relies on psychological professionals and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to argue that Trump suffers two serious psychological disorders; narcissistic personality and antisocial personality.
Basically what Trump has is an outsized love for himself and an inflated view of his intelligence and accomplishments, coupled with an inability to empathize with other human beings. Conway says the most important one is narcissism “because it touches directly upon whether Trump has the capacity to put anyone’s interests—including the country’s and the Constitution’s—above his own.”
Conway lists the characteristics of narcissism from the DSM:
1. Grandiose sense of self-importance.
2. Fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance.
3. Believes that he or she is “special.”
4. Requires excessive admiration.
5. Sense of entitlement.
6. Exploits other people.
7. Lacks empathy.
8. Envious of others.
9. Arrogant and haughty behaviors.
Conway concludes that, “From the evidence, it appears that he (Trump) simply can’t stop himself from putting his own interests above the nation’s. Any serious impeachment proceedings should consider not only the evidence and the substance of all impeachable offenses, but also the psychological factors that may be relevant to the motivations underlying those offenses.”
He asks, “Is Trump so narcissistic that he can’t help but use his office for his own personal ends? Is he so sociopathic that he can’t be trusted to follow, let alone faithfully execute, the law?”
Switching Sides: In a major switch in US policy in Syria, President Trump has given Turkey approval for a military operation that would sweep away American-backed Kurdish forces near the border in Syria.
Turkey considers the Kurdish forces to be terrorists. The Kurdish fighters, which are part of the Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, have been the US partner in fighting the Islamic State in northern Syria.
The Obit Page: Ginger Baker, a co-founder of the 60s band Cream and one of the greatest rock drummers ever, has died at age 80. Baker formed the band in 1966 with Eric Clapton and the bassist Jack Bruce. He was the first rock drummer to be allowed to wander off on solo riffs becoming a star in his own right instead of just the guy doing the background beat.
The Bulletin Board: Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced that he is resigning as Secretary of Energy. — Police are looking for a remaining suspect in a shooting that left four people dead in a Kansas City, Kansas bar early yesterday. One man has already been arrested. The shooting may have been sparked by an argument outside the bar earlier. — After a 0-5 start to the season, Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is the first head coach of the NFL season to get fired. Gruden said after yesterday’s game, “If the key works Monday, I’ll keep working.” It won’t.
