The Loser Loses, Vaccine Approved

The Loser Loses Again: The Supreme Court yesterday spurned the Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn the presidential election  in four other states, pretty much ending legal efforts by President Trump and his supporters to win the election by court decision.

The unsigned decision by the court said, “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections.” In other words, Texas had no business filing the suit and no case to make.

President Trump tweeted this morning, “I WON THE ELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE, but remember, I only think in terms of legal votes, not all of the fake voters and fraud that miraculously floated in from everywhere! What a disgrace!”

He lost by more than seven million votes.

The  Lawsuit filed by Texas directly to the Supreme Court claimed that Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin had improperly changed their absentee and mail balloting rules before the November 3rd election, thereby depriving Texas the power of its vote. The suit  asked the court to stop those states from casting their electoral votes for Joe Biden and to shift the selection of electors to the states’ legislatures, invalidating millions of votes.

Science by Threat: Just hours after the White House threatened to fire the head of the Food and Drug Administration if he didn’t approve the coronavirus vaccine by the end of the day, the FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn obeyed at the point of the gun.

The threat had come from White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, telling Hahn to resign if his agency didn’t clear the nation’s first coronavirus vaccine.

The threat came after President Trump tweeted that the FDA is “a big, old, slow turtle” in its handling of vaccines, while calling on Commissioner Hahn to “get the dam vaccines out NOW.”  The President has accused the FDA of slowing vaccine approval in order to harm him politically, even though he is now politically dead.

Hahn should have resigned because that just can’t be the way a major drug is approved, regardless of the circumstances.

Viral News: The vaccine approval means millions of higher risk Americans will begin to get the vaccine within days. The US has become the sixth country after Britain, Bahrain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico to accept the vaccine.

Despite the approval, the US still faces weeks if not months of news cases and deaths. Another 3,349 people died in the last 24 hours and the US will reach 300,000 in the coming week.

New York City restaurants will again be closed to indoor dining starting Monday as Gov. Andrew Cuomo fights a second wave of the coronavirus. The order threatens to put out of business hundreds of restaurants teetering on the edge. Thousands of employees have already been laid off.

As he made the announcement, Cuomo called for federal relief. “The federal government must provide relief to these bars and restaurants in this next package,” he said at a news conference.

Help does not appear to be coming soon. Congressional leaders have framed a $908 billion relief package, but the Republicans want strong liability protection for businesses against Covid-related lawsuits and they are resisting help for state and local government that have lost billions in tax revenue.

The Democrats are holding out for extended federal unemployment benefits and $600 stimulus checks, half the amount sent out last spring.

Under Wraps: Attorney Gen. Bill Barr worked hard to keep the Hunter Biden business investigation a secret during the election season, The Wall Street Journal reports. The feds are investigating the younger Biden’s taxes.

Diehard supporters of President Trump are likely to go down believing he would have won a second term if only Barr had gone public with the investigation.

It’s customary for the Justice Department not to do anything that would influence the election and the investigation of a candidate’s son might surely have had an impact.  Republican politicians and President Trump have been pressuring Barr both for information and action in regard to the son of the former vice president.

Code Breakers: Several private code breakers have finally translated an encrypted message sent by the infamous Bay Area Zodiac killer of the 1960s who has never been captured or identified. It took 51 years to crack what is considered a holy grail of code breaking.

The message says, “I hope you are having lots of fun in trying to catch me that wasn’t me on the TV show which brings up a point about me I am not afraid of the gas chamber because it will send me to paradice all the sooner because I now have enough slaves to work for me where everyone else has nothing when they reach paradice so they are afraid of death I am not afraid because I know that my new life is life will be an easy one in paradice death.”

At least five murders are attributed to the Zodiac, but he claimed to have killed 37.

End of an Era: New York’s iconic 21 Club, famous for its celebrity clientele and lawn jockeys lining its stairs from street, is closing. It’s another victim of the pandemic. John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, and Frank Sinatra used to eat there. So did the editor of The Rooney Report — once. Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald weren’t there.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
