Dorian Hits Bahamas, More Mass Murder

Cat Five:Hurricane Dorian ripped through the Bahamas as a Category 5 storm, leaving boats flipped in harbors and widespread damage on land. Roofs were ripped off homes as winds gusted up to 220 mph. Residents of the Abaco Islands posted videos and pictures of floodwaters reaching the eaves of homes, submerged cars, and floating debris.

An eight-year old boy is reported to have drowned. Prime Minister Hubert Minnis described it as  “a deadly storm and a monster storm.”

Dorian keeps charging course. It’s now expected to take a right turn off Palm Beach, Florida and follow the curve of the East Coast going north.

While We Were Sleeping:The gun control debate was given new fuel over the weekend after a gunman in Texas killed seven people and wounded 21. The shooter has been described as a 36-year-old man who would often sit on top of his home and shoot animals at night. The cops killed him.

Seth Ator went on a rampage shooting from a moving vehicle only hours after he had been fired from his trucking job.

After flip-flopping on serious background checks for gun buyers, President Trump pledged to find a way to “substantially reduce” mass shootings, but he didn’t say how. It’s clear he will not do or propose anything that offends the National Rifle Association and that pretty much means he won’t do anything.

A mass shooting is defined as an attack in which three or more people are killed, and so far this year there have been 38 of them in the US.

Returning from Camp David, Trump told reporters, “Background checks – I will say that for the most part, sadly, if you look at the last four or five, going back even five or six or seven years — for the most part, as strong as you make your background checks, they would not have stopped any of it.”

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said on CNN, “Thoughts and prayers have done nothing to stop the epidemic of gun violence. Yes, this is fucked up; and if we don’t call it out for what it is, we will continue to have this bloodshed in America.”

Trumponomics: With Hurricane Dorian threatening, President Trump was up this morning bragging about what a great president he is. He said on Twitter, “Since my election, many trillions of dollars of worth has been created for our Country, and the Stock Market is up over 50%.”

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
