Attack on Democracy: Maoist rebels in India attacked a convoy carrying members of the ruling Congress party, killing 24 and wounding at least 37 others. Indian press reports say the rebels blocked the road with downed trees then set off a bomb, destroying one of the vehicles in the convoy. The vehicles and their occupants were then raked with gunfire.

National: President Obama visits Moore, Okla. today to survey the Tornado damage and attend a church service. Three public high schools in Moore had to hold their graduation ceremonies at the convention center in Oklahoma City.

• Two people died and one is missing in flash floods in San Antonio after torrential rains dumped several inches on the city.  One woman’s car was swept off the road into a culvert. Rain could continue today.
• Seven people were injured early yesterday morning in Missouri in the collision of two freights trains. The accident happened at a rail intersection. One of the trains derailed and took out a pillar supporting an overpass, which then dropped on top of the trains.
• More than 2,000 runners, some of whom had been wounded in the April 15^th bombings, returned to make a symbolic finish of the last mile of the Boston Marathon yesterday.
• In a continuing administration push against sexual assault in the military, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told the West Point graduating class to stamp out the “scourge” of sexual abuse. Only last week an Army sergeant who works at the Academy was accused of secretly videotaping female cadets taking showers.

World: British police arrested three more people suspected of involvement with the plot to hack to death a soldier in London. Eight people have been arrested, including the two bloodied men wounded at the scene of the murder. One of the accused said the killing was revenge for the British military killing Muslims in the Middle East.  About 2,000 people organized by the right wing English Defense League marched in Newcastle chanting “Whose streets? Our streets!” Across the Channel, French police are investigating whether the stabbing of a soldier on patrol in Paris yesterday was a copycat crime.
