Shabab Threatens Blood, “Militant Gays”

Extreme: Al-Shabab Muslim extremists are threatening more attacks on Kenya after killing 148 people at Garissa University College this week. A statement attributed to al-Shabab says, “Kenyan cities will run red with blood.”

The primary gunmen were killed, but authorities say they have arrested five people they believe were involved with the plot. One student was found today, still hiding in a cupboard two days after the attack.

Survivors of the Garissa massacre are telling horrific stories about how gunmen methodically killed their Christian friends and schoolmates. Students were herded out of their dormitories and made to lie down, where they were shot. A few students were forced to call their families on their cellphones so their parents could hear them being murdered. Some were saved and hidden by Muslim friends.

Payback: A San Diego man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for operating what’s described as a “revenge porn” website on which he posted nude pictures of women then demanded to be paid to take them down. Kevin Bollaert, 28, encouraged men to send in the pictures of the former lovers. The unhappy women were directed to a second website and charged $350 to have their photo taken offline.

Ferguson: Responding to a Freedom of Information request, the city of Ferguson, Mo. has released the racist and tasteless emails that led to the dismissal of the chief court clerk and two police supervisors. They were mostly the stuff that circulates on the Internet … wife jokes, pedophile jokes, and comparing President Obama to a chimp.

Canned: With the collapse of the Pacific sardine population, the federal government is on the verge of shutting down commercial sardine fishing to save the salmon, tuna, and sea lions that eat them. The sardine population has been dropping steadily for the last several years. The little fish may have been over-fished, but they have also historically had major fluctuations in population.

The Obit Page: Sarah Brady, who became one of the nation’s leading gun control activists after her husband was disabled in the assassination attempt on President Reagan, has died at age 73. Former press secretary James Brady, who died last August, was hit in the head in the midst of the Reagan shooting. Executives of The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence say Sarah Brady’s efforts prevented the sale of 2.4 million handguns “to criminals and other dangerous people.”

Fore!: After two months in the gallery, golfer Tiger Woods announced yesterday that he will play the Masters tournament in Augusta next week. After his domestic blowup, a bad knee, injured ankles, and an ailing back, the world’s former No. 1 golfer has slipped to #104.

Final Four!: Michigan State plays Duke today at 6:09 EST; Kentucky meets Wisconsin at 8:49 EST in a replay of last year’s semi-final matchup when Kentucky nipped Wisconsin by one point.

1984: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a potential presidential candidate, says he blames “the militant gay community” for the uproar this week over the religious freedom laws passed in his state and Indiana. Huckabee said, “There’s been more pressure this week to put sanctions on Indiana than Iran.”

On a Christian radio show Huckabee said the tactics of gay rights activists were “a page out of ‘1984’ in which things mean the opposite of what they say. “In the name of diversity, there’s uniformity. In the name of acceptance, there’s true discrimination.”

Huckabee says he hasn’t decided whether he’s running for president.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
