Campaign of Hatred and Fear

Vol. 15, No. 2409
CAMPAIGN OF FEAR: President Trump previewed his campaign trip to Michigan last night saying he was going “to fight a Jihadist Member of the Muslim Brotherhood — A man who should never be allowed inside the Halls of our Great and Beautiful Capital Building, in Washington, DC”
That would be Dr. Abdul el-Sayed, a medical doctor and Muslim running as a Democrat for the Senate. Trump included the unabashed lie that, “Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed wants our Country to go to Sharia Law.”
Trump is running a campaign of falsehoods and fear to preserve the Republican majority in Congress. He’s fostering fear of immigrants, communists, election rigging, Rep. Ilhan Omar, and even transgenderism while pinning roses on his economy.
In Georgia he said of the price of gasoline, “So we’re making hundreds and hundreds of billion dollars, trillion of dollars … my people said please don’t mention that sir because people are paying a little bit higher … that number’s going to come way down, but what we’ve done for this country, we’re making money like this country has never made before.”
Where is that money going?
Speaking in Park City, Kansas, Trump said, “If you want to see what is at stake in this election, just look at what’s happening in France, a once great nation that is being conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists and communists who hate Christianity.
Regarding immigrants he said; “We have them in our country. We’ve gotten most of them out, we’re getting the rest of them out very soon. But they want to shut down our power plants. They want to set loose the criminals, turn your children transgender, confiscate your money and raise up the Palestinian flag right in the middle of your wonderful state.
He warned against “The absolute mutilization of your children, where your son Timmy comes home five days later as Sarah and you don’t even know about it.”
Trump said he’s been told by a religious leader that, “He’s the greatest leader, and he’s going to lead us to a period of time in Christianity — in Christianity that nobody else can do, that nobody else can do. And he turned out to be right.”
HOMECOMING: After nearly 10 months in exile, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado returned home to urge her government … and the Trump administration that controls it … to hold open democratic elections by next July.
President Trump had opposed Machado returning to the country.
The current Venezuelan leader is Delcy Rodríguez, who inherited the repressive regime of President Nicolás Maduro after he was snatched for prosecution by the United States. Discussions about elections have failed to set a date and Trump has said the country is not ready as he extracts oil for American benefit.
FULL BRAZILIAN: Right winger Flávio Bolsonaro is claiming foul play as Brazil’s leftist president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, won a fourth term in office in what appears to be a surprise victory. Bolsonaro refused to accept the outcome and said it was the result of foul play, increasing the risk of unrest over the election result.
Bolsonaro is the son of a former president Jair Bolsonaro, who was convicted of attempting a coup d’état following his 2022 election defeat and is serving a 27-year prison sentence. Yesterday’s election is also a defeat for President Trump, who objected to the older Bolsonaro’s trial and supported the son in his run for the presidency.
ONE WORD, “PLASTICS”: Researchers have found that plastics are not as harmless as originally thought as they break down into tiny bits, microplastics that have crept into water and the food chain and ultimately the human body.
Research at Columbia University shows that when water is exposed to tiny microplastics, it releases highly reactive chemicals that can contribute to heart disease, cancer, and neurological ailments including Alzheimer’s disease.
What the experiments did not find is exactly how and why microplastics could cause these harms. The new paper suggests that the chemicals they release could be causing oxidative stress, where the production of dangerous free radicals in the body overpowers natural defenses.
THE BOYS OF SUMMER: The Milwaukee Brewers won game two of the World Series 5-4 over the Tampa Bay Rays, taking a 2-0 lead. Game three is tonight in Tampa and if the Brewers keep dominating they might win the Series away from home.
INFINITE SCROLL:
— Elon Musk admitted on social media that his SpaceX company did restrict Ukraine’s use of the Starlink satellite system and said it was because Ukraine had been violating Starlink’s terms of service by using it for military activity.
Both Ukraine and Musk say service has been restored for Starlink and the military satellites, Starshield.
— Following their second dinner together at the White House described by HBO host Bill Maher as very collegial, President Trump posted a 1300-word screed denouncing Maher as a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER,” low-rated, a goofball, and a pothead.
But Trump’s post was not really about Maher, it was about himself: “Using Fake Polls, he also said I had my Lowest Ratings so far, ‘and even the Republican Party doesn’t like him,’ but that’s not true. I have High Ratings and, more importantly, he said that I’m losing the support and approval of the Republican Party when, in fact, CNN just came out with a Poll showing that I’m at 98 and 99% support within the Republican Party, an All Time Record High. Ronald Reagan was at 86%.”
THE SPIN RACK: German authorities say they detained a man with signs of mental illness who they suspect set the fire that largely destroyed Adolph Hitler’s notorious “Eagle’s Nest” Bavarian Alps retreat that is now a tourist attraction.
BELOW THE FOLD: Former President Barack Obama during a Democratic campaign event trashed President Trump’s sense of style saying, “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory.”
