US Troops Wounded in Missile Strikes

Vol. 15, No. 2341
THE WAR ROOM: An Iranian strike pierced defenses at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 10 US troops, two of them seriously. The combined missile and drone attack also damaged at least two KC-135 aerial refueling tankers.
Houthi militants in Yemen appear to have entered the multi-country conflict with a ballistic missile attack on Israel. The Israeli military said their defenses knocked down the incoming missile.
Iran is also fighting back over the internet with computer-generated videos mocking President Donald Trump and portraying fictional events like a missile striking Liberty Island in New York Harbor. They even mention the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
The Iranian war of words and images is reaching millions of people around the world over such social media outlets as X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
President Trump continues to claim that Iran is negotiating an end to the war in which he claimed victory on the first day. He said in Miami yesterday that the war, “It’s not finished yet, I’m not saying, it’s sort of finished but it’s not finished, it’s gotta be finished.”
NO KINGS: Millions of people are expected today to attend “No Kings” rallies across the country in protest of Donald Trump’s imperial presidency. More than 3100 events are planned from Alaska to Maine and Florida.
“The people of America are pissed” and “are the ones powering this movement,” organizer Sarah Parker, a national coordinator said at a No Kings Coalition news conference this week.
In a week during which the administration announced they are putting Donald Trump’s signature on paper currency the question is whether the message is getting through … or if it is … whether Trump or anyone in his power circle cares.
GET ON LINE: House Speaker Mike Johnson yesterday rejected a compromise bill unanimously passed in the Senate that would have ended the air travel crisis in which Transportation Security agents are skipping work or quitting because they aren’t getting paid.
The bill would have funded all of the Department of Homeland Security except Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol.
“House Republicans are not going to be any part of any effort to reopen our borders or to stop immigration enforcement,” Johnson said at an afternoon news conference. “This gambit that was done last night is a joke.”
The Democrats are not trying to re-open the borders. They have blocked spending on immigration enforcement demanding reforms and professional standards for how immigration agents go about their jobs. They would ban the wearing of masks and require judicial warrants for entering homes.
The House passed a competing bill 213 to 203 last night, before … along with the Senate … leaving Washington for a two-week break. So the impasse and the air travel nightmare, continue.
In a related development, Delta airlines announced that it is suspending VIP treatment for members of congress until the situation is resolved.
PAR FOR THE COURSE: Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested yesterday in Florida for driving under the influence after rolling over his SUV … for the second time. A breathalyzer test revealed no alcohol in his system, but Woods refused a urinalysis. He spent several hours in jail.
Woods, 50, was arrested for DUI in 2017, also in his hometown of Jupiter, Florida.
And in February 2021 Woods was injured in a rollover about 20 miles south of Los Angeles. He sustained multiple fractures in his right leg and had to have surgery.
Unrelated, he’s had seven surgeries on his back.
Not that this has anything to do with it, but Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr.
CHRISTIAN SOLDIER: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has struck the names of two Black and two female officers from the army list of candidates to be promoted to one-star generals. All four are reported to have stellar service records.
Hegseth did not give a reason but he has been selective about promoting Black and female officers.
It’s not clear that he has legal authority to do this but he has based personnel decisions on removing diversity, equity initiatives and “woke culture” from the military.
The devoutly Christian Hegseth at the same time has been injecting his faith into the military, calling for prayer in the press room, holding a worship service in the Pentagon, and characterizing the war on Iran as something akin to a Christian crusade.
In recent days he ordered that military chaplains will no longer wear insignias of rank but rather insignias of their faith. Hegseth said in a video that they “will be seen among the highest ranks because of their divine calling.”
HOOP DREAMS: College Basketball’s March Madness is down to eight teams as we head into April. They are: Arizona, Michigan, Illinois, Duke, Purdue, UConn, Tennessee, and Iowa.
The women’s tournament has yet to winnow down to eight teams.THE REGIME: Vice President JD Vance claimed last night that Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a favorite target of the Trump administration, defrauded the US by marrying her brother to help him remain legally in the country. Omar does have a troubled marriage history with two exes, but she never married her brother. She created her own troubling rumor because she used to introduce one of her husbands as her brother. — The shrinking US Education Department announced this week that it will move out of its headquarters in downtown Washington and give its building to the Energy Department.
BELOW THE FOLD: Tesla billionaire Elon Musk is promising that a future network of autonomous vehicles and humanoids fueled by solar energy will eliminate human labor, but not billionaires.
