ICE Agent Kills Young Mother

FATAL FIRE: A federal immigration officer yesterday shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis the Department of Homeland Security said was interfering with an enforcement operation and even trying to kill officers. She was identified as Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three children, a white US citizen.
It appears to be the first fatal shooting in President Trump’s campaign to remove illegal immigrants from the country. Protesters both for against ICE collected at the scene.
Federal authorities issued statements before any investigation. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem appearing on camera in a cowboy hat, said the woman killed had been involved in “an act of domestic terrorism.” She said the woman attacked agents whose vehicle was stuck in the snow and attempted to run them over.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote on Twitter/X that, “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.”
Video of the incident shows agents approached both sides of the woman’s car and a third pulled on the driver’s side door. The driver reversed a few feet then went forward and an officer from the right stepped across the front of the vehicle with pistol drawn and fired from near the left headlight.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has surged 2,000 agents into Minneapolis. In a heated City Hall press conference, Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, called on ICE to “get the fuck out.” He said, “What I can tell you is the narrative that this was just done in self-defense is a garbage narrative that is not true.”
ALL ABOUT OIL: The United States intends to control Venezuela’s oil industry, overseeing sale of the country’s production “indefinitely,” Energy Secretary, Chris Wright said yesterday.
President Trump told The NY Times in a two-hour interview that he expects the United States to be running Venezuela and taking oil from its huge reserves for years. He said the current government is “giving us everything that we feel is necessary.”
Wright told a Goldman Sachs energy conference near Miami that, “Going forward we will sell the production that comes out of Venezuela into the marketplace.” This came following President Trump’s announcement on Tuesday that Venezuela would hand over 30 million to 50 million barrels of oil to the US with him controlling the profits from its sale.
The administration has not explained the legal authority … or lack of it … under which this would happen. Wright said the Trump administration is in “active dialogue” with Venezuela’s leadership, as well as the big US oil companies.
What appears to be happening is that without a military occupation the Trump administration plans to “run” Venezuela through a naval blockade that would force the sale of the country’s oil through American hands.
In a related development, the US military announced that it seized two oil tankers, one of them a Russian-flagged ship in the North Atlantic, as part of the Trump administration’s campaign to cut off trade in sanctioned Venezuelan oil. The Coast Guard boarded the Russian-flagged tanker after a two-week pursuit. The tanker had dodged an American naval blockade coming out of Venezuela
and changed its flag identification from Guyana to Russian during the pursuit. The US sanctioned the ship in 2024 after American officials claimed it was carrying black market oil.
THE REGIME:
— The Trump administration released new dietary guidelines yesterday, turning the traditional food pyramid upside down, putting steak, cheese, and whole milk at the top. The new guidelines back Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s beliefs that people should cook with butter and beef tallow despite scientific evidence to the contrary.
Fruits and vegetables are still up top, but whole grains are at the bottom.
— President Trump’s former beauty queen lawyer, Lindsey Halligan, who bungled indictments of two of the President’s political enemies, has been ordered by a federal judge to explain why she still represents herself as the US Attorney for Eastern Virginia despite a ruling that she was not legally appointed to the position.
— Noted banjo player Béla Fleck announced he’s cancelling three scheduled concerts at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, joining other artists pulling out after Donald Trump put his name on the building. Fleck told The NY Times that, “It has become less and less a musically and artistically based situation and more of a highly politicized and divisive one.”
MAKE BABIES: The conservative thinktank behind the political Project 2025 blueprint for conservative rule has drafted a report titled “Saving America by Saving the Family.” The Washington Post reports that the document urges President Donald Trump and lawmakers “to save and restore the American family” through tax credits for larger families, strict work requirements on social benefit programs, discouraging online dating, and creating marriage “bootcamp” classes.
THE SPIN RACK: The board of Warner Bros. has repeatedly rejected Paramount’s buyout offer, voting to stick with the $83 billion deal approved with Netflix. After taking control of Paramount and CBS, nepo-billionaire David Ellison is looking to expand his entertainment empire with Warner and CNN. — In what was expected to be a plea hearing for Nick Reiner, the son of actor-producer Rob Reiner accused of murdering of his parents, Reiner’s lawyer told the court he must withdraw from the case. Celebrity lawyer Alan Jackson said he was leaving the case due to “circumstances beyond my control.”
BELOW THE FOLD: Former NFL offensive lineman Matt Kalil is suing his ex-wife, model Haley Kalil, after she said in an interview that the enormous size of his male appendage was the reason their marriage ended. In his playing prime Kalil’s weight … his whole body … was 306 pounds.
Kalil said his ex’s comments were an invasion of his privacy. Haley had said that the size of his equipment is “two Coke cans, maybe even a third.” She didn’t specify whether it’s the 7.5 or 12-ounce can.
