Judge Orders Trump to Feed the Poor

THE DINING ROOM: Keeping it short today.

A federal judge in Rhode island yesterday ordered the Trump administration to use emergency funds to pay for the food assistance program known as SNAP and President Trump immediately said there would be a delay until the court could clarify “how we can legally” supply the money.

Note that he didn’t say he would get on it and figure it out. He blamed the Democrats. “It is already delayed enough due to the Democrats keeping the Government closed through the monthly payment date,” Trump wrote on social media, “and, even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while states get the money out.”

Trump wrote, “If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay.”

As many as 42 million Americans lost their food assistance at midnight because of the federal government shutdown which has now stretched more than a month.

Other federal anti-poverty programs also are about to dry up. Nearly seven million women and young children who in the grocery voucher program known as WIC may lose access to infant formula, food, breastfeeding support and health care screenings. As cold weather begins to set it, nearly six million households are about to lose help paying their energy bills.

HOME PLATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers stayed alive in the World Series last night, winning game six 3-1 in Toronto.

The game was delayed for a beat while a fan ran onto the field with an American flag amidst tensions between the US and Canada.

Fans were on the edge of their seats in the bottom of the 9th with the tying runs on base, but Los Angeles ended it with a double play.

Game seven … the final match … is in Toronto tonight.

 THE REGIME:

— Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada said he had apologized this week to President Trump for the anti-tariff television ad run by the Province of Ontario that enraged the President and led him to Canadian province that led the American leader to abruptly end talks about US tariffs on steel, aluminum, and other imports from Canada.

— President Trump revealed on social media that he’s had the Lincoln bedroom bathroom re-done entirely in white marble with gold fixtures.

NUYAWK NEWS: New York City voters are energized about their mayoral election with more than 480,000 having already cast their ballots.

Democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, who somehow manages to be uniting and divisive at the same time, holds a wide lead in the polls over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of The Guardian Angeles.

Mamdani is young, bright, and magnetic against the crusty old pol, Cuomo. Mamdani has promised free bus transportation, a freeze on rents, and city-run grocery stores in “food deserts” of the city.

BELOW THE FOLD: Britain’s former Prince Andrew is being referred to in the press as “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor” faster than you can say “Gulf of America.”

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
