Win Some, Lose Some

We’re keeping it short this morning.

THE LATEST: The Supreme Court yesterday allowed the Trump administration to revoke a Biden-era program that gave temporary residency to more than half a million immigrants from countries torn by war and political turmoil.

But President Trump has also lost a lot of decisions. Disappointed and angry about judicial decisions against his decrees even by judges he appointed, Trump yesterday bashed the conservative  Federalist Society which feeds him candidates for judicial appointments. “I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations,” Trump posted on social media. “This is something that cannot be forgotten!”

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE:

— The Energy Department announced that it is terminating $3.7 billion  in Biden-era awards to companies trying to develop  technologies aimed at reducing climate warming emissions from cement, iron, glass, and chemical production. Some of the technologies would trap and bury carbon dioxide from their smokestacks.

— Three transgender graduate at the US Air Force Academy were denied commissions because of the Trump administration ban on transgender people serving in the military. Trump’s order is allowed to remain in effect pending appeal.

Graduate Hunter Marquez is among those suing to reverse the Trump policy. A follow-up order says transgender graduates must reimburse the government for their education if they do not voluntarily separate by June 6th.

— Republican Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa put her foot in the bucket yesterday morning answering questions about Medicaid cuts in the proposed budget. One man said, “People are going to die,” to which Ernst fliply replied, “Well, we all are going to die.” The crowd jeered.

— Tesla billionaire Elon Musk appeared in the Oval Office yesterday for a farewell ceremony  sporting a black eye. He claimed his son X did it, although there’s a country full of people who’d like to give him a black eye.

THE OBIT PAGE: Loretta Swit, who played Major “Hot Lips” Houlihan on the long running CBC sitcom M*A*S*H*, died in Manhattan at age 87. The show aired from 1972 to 1983. The character’s nickname “Hot Lips” came from her affair with the married Maj. Frank Burns.

BELOW THE FOLD: The NY Times reports that Elon Musk, who has 14 children that we know of, also may have had a baby with a Japanese pop star. Musk believes the world is not sufficiently growing the population  and he’s doing his best to reverse that. He said anyone who wants his sperm can have it.

It's Been Said

"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."
