Trump Sits With Kelly, Supremes Split Again

Circus, Circus: Hillary Clinton faces tight races again today in the Kentucky and Oregon primaries. She may not be able to advance her delegate lead. Bernie Sanders already won two primaries this month.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who’s been the object of barbs by Donald Trump, interviews the presidential candidates at 8 pm eastern time tonight. With no competition left in the Republican Party, Trump is expected to turn his claws on Hillary Clinton, attacking her character and honesty. Her husband Bill and his romantic affairs will also be in the crosshairs.

Former candidate John Kasich indicated yesterday that he will not agree to be Trump’s vice president, or even support him for president. “It would be very hard for me — unless he were to change all of his views and become a uniter — for me to get in the middle of this thing,” Kasich said.

Billionaire Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said the stock market could dive 20 percent if Trump is elected. “That uncertainty potentially as the president of the United States, that’s the last thing Wall Street wants to hear,” Cuban said.

Split Iudicum: For the second time since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, the Supreme Court has spilt and reached no decision on a major case, this one involving a question of religious freedom, birth control, and Obamacare.

The case was brought by a group of religious organizations that argued they should not be required under Obamacare to provide birth control with their health care plans.

The court sent it back to the lower courts to try to work out a compromise. In an unsigned ruling the justices said, “The court expresses no view on the merits of the cases. In particular, the court does not decide whether petitioners’ religious exercise has been substantially burdened.”

With the Republican Senate blocking President Obama’s appointment to replace Scalia, a NY Times editorial says, “Every day that passes without a ninth justice undermines the Supreme Court’s ability to function, and leaves millions of Americans waiting for justice or clarity as major legal questions are unresolved.”

Health Beat: Most Americans favor a “single payer” national healthcare system similar to what presidential candidate Bernie Sanders advocates, according to a report in The Washington Post. While Republicans want to kill Obamacare, more than 50 percent of Americans would take it further to a single-payer system. That includes 41 percent of Republican voters. As Bernie calls it, “Medicare for all.” But, over 75 percent of Republicans would repeal Obamacare.

The Migration Crisis: The former head of MI6, Britain’s equivalent of the CIA, says Europe will face a “populist uprising” if the EU is not able to control the flood of migrants from North African and the Middle East. Sir Richard Dearlove has also said that Britain would be safer if it gets out of the European union and is able to tighten entry to the country.

He’s at odds with actress Angelina Jolie, an immigration advocate, who warned that the international system is breaking down amidst a “fear of migration” and a “race to the bottom” as countries compete to be the toughest bar immigrants.

Nature Boys: A couple of tourists in Yellowstone Park thought they were doing a good deed the other day when they put a bison calf in the back of their van to keep it warm. A picture of the little reddish buffalo in the car went viral on the internet.

A father and his son returned the calf to a ranger station and were ticketed for interfering with nature in the park. When the calf was returned to its herd, it was rejected and the rangers had to kill it.

On Tap: A two-mile pipeline is being built under the Belgian city of Bruges to carry beer from the De Halve Maan Brewery to its bottling plant outside the city. Many residents have said they would allow the pipe to pass through their property so long as they can tap into it.

It's Been Said

"In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate, and I should have, no excuses."
