Gym Doctor Pleads, Cop Confirms Moore Ban

Sexual Predator: Former USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar pleaded guilty yesterday to sexually molesting seven girls, most of them gymnasts. At least 130 young women and girls have accused him of molesting them under the guise of physical therapy.

He has also been convicted of possession of child pornography.

Nassar said to the court, “I pray every day for forgiveness.” He faces up to 25 years in prison.

Sexual Politics: The communications director for Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore has resigned without explanation. Moore’s campaign wrote it off to the usual shifts in campaign staff, but this is a big one, considering the sexual and child molestation accusations levelled against Moore.

In another development, MSNBC reports Gadsden, Alabama police were ordered to make sure Moore “didn’t hang around” high school cheerleaders. This was 40 years ago. Former Gadsden police officer Faye Gary also confirmed that Moore had been banned from the Gadsden mall for trolling teenage girls.

“I didn’t realize it until some time later that when they said he liked young girls — I just thought he liked young ladies, you know, younger than him, maybe in their 20s,” Gary said. “I had no idea, or we had no idea that we were talking about 14-year-olds. But we never got a complaint on it.”

Sigh, and this: Two more women have come forward to tell the Huffington Post that Minnesota Sen. Al Franken groped their butts. during a grip and grin photo shoots and a campaign event. One said he asked her to join him in the bathroom.

Franken said he doesn’t remember the specific photo shoots, and that he never asked a woman to go into the bathroom with him.

But Wait, There’s More: Texas Republican rep. Joe Barton has who apologized for a nude selfie of him that circulated on the Internet. A woman to with whom he had shared sexually explicit photos, videos and messages told the Washington Post that 68-year-old Barton would report her to the Capitol Police is she used the pictures in a way that would damage him.

Don’t look up the picture. You can’t unsee it.

At Sea: The Navy is still looking for three sailors missing after a propeller-driven delivery plane went down in the Philippine Sea. Eleven people survived and were picked. The flight, known as a COD for “carrier onboard delivery,” was 600 miles off shore headed for the USS Ronald Reagan.

Desert Mystery: The FBI is investigating the death of one border patrol agent in rural West Texas and the serious injury of a second who went to his aid. President Trump used the incident to tweet in favor of building his border wall.

Agent Rogelio Martinez reported that a movement sensor had been set off by humans and called for backup. Both men suffered head injuries and broken bones. Martinez died, and the second officer says he doesn’t remember what happened.

The incident was at one time described as an attack with rocks, which is not uncommon, but now investigators are uncertain. The two may have fallen into a ravine, according to one theory.

The Gun Beat: Following the Texas church shooting in which 26 people were killed, Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions has ordered a review of the national database for gun buyer background checks.

“The recent shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas revealed that relevant information may not be getting reported to the NICS — this is alarming and it is unacceptable,” Sessions said in a statement.

The Air Force failed to send the database information that would have blocked the Texas shooter, Devin Kelley, from buying guns.

Turkey Parade: The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade steps off in New York today in what is a grand annual tradition for the department store chain on the brink of the Christmas season.

But the NY Times reports that like all brick and mortar stores under assault by internet shopping, the Macy’s chain is slipping. Sales have fallen for 11 consecutive quarters and the stock is down 41 percent just this year.

Michael Corkery writes for The NY Times that, “Macy’s real estate, with an estimated value of $16 billion, is worth more than the company’s market value of $6.4 billion, according to an analysis by Cowen, the investment management and banking firm.”

Macy’s buildings in Seattle and Portland have been sold for re-development as office space. The Marshall Fields building in Chicago is a sensitive target for conversion because of its Tiffany-designed vaulted ceiling and the Walnut Room restaurant.

There are no plans as yet to abandon Macy’s most beautiful building, its flagship New York store.

Turkey, Well Done: President Trump is at Mar-a-Lago for Thanksgiving. He calls it the “Winter White House,” a gilded insult to the actual White House.

CBS Radio Correspondent Mark Knoller tweeted, “By my count, it’s Pres Trump’s 50th visit to a golf club since taking office. All but one to a Trump-brand club. More often than not, WH doesn’t confirm he plays golf. so can only reliably count his visits – including 8 visits to his club in Bedminster NJ where he stayed 42 days.”

The White House pool was briefed yesterday morning and told to expect “a low-key day.” Then the White House demanded a correction.

CNBC’s Christina Wilkie tweeted, “As a journalist, this is borderline offensive. 8:06AM: White House makes pool reporter issue a correction to say, ‘The president will NOT have a low-key day and has a full schedule of meetings and phone calls.’ 9::26AM: The president goes golfing”

He spent five hours at his golf club.

It's Been Said

"In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate, and I should have, no excuses."

-Andrew Cuomo, resigning as governor of New York after accusations of sexual harassment
